Three-Year-Old Girl Accidentally Sh*t Herself in the Face with Her Dad's G*n

I’m all for having the means to protect your family and yourself, especially nowadays with all the craziness going on out there, but we have to be mindful, fellas. When you have kids, you have to be careful. This child lost her life because of her parents' negligence.

A three-year-old girl accidentally shot herself in the face with her father's gun after she found it under a couch cushion, according to court documents. Her parents and three siblings were at home when this tragic event happened. When Omaha Police arrived at 1:46 p.m. on Saturday, they pronounced the girl dead at the scene.

Her father, Phuc Le, was arrested and charged with drug possession and child neglect leading to death. He was released on his own recognizance on Sunday night and has a court date scheduled for May 6.

An 8-year-old sibling told police that their father often left the gun out when he was not home. The child stated that the gun was usually kept under a pillow in the basement where their dad slept, and they had also seen it on the couch or a side table. The mother confirmed that she knew Le normally kept the gun under a couch cushion while he slept at night.

On the day of the incident, the 8-year-old said they saw the 3-year-old find the gun under the couch cushion. The older sibling tried to take it away but was unsuccessful. Tragically, while they were struggling over the gun, the younger girl accidentally shot herself in the face.

Le told the police that before he left for work at around 11 a.m., he had hidden the gun under a couch cushion but did not lock it in his safe in the basement, where he usually kept it. He claimed that the gun was not loaded and that he never left the ammunition clip in it.
