Darrian Randle, a 31-year-old woman from North East, Maryland, has been charged with murdering her 3-year-old daughter, Nola Dinkins. Initially, Randle claimed that her daughter was kidnapped at gunpoint in Newark, Delaware, but police later determined that this was a false report. Randle’s boyfriend, Cedrick Britten, 44, has also been charged in connection with the case.
On June 10, 2025, around 7 p.m., Randle reported to the police that she had pulled over on Gender Road because her daughter was upset. She alleged that a man approached her, held her at gunpoint, and took her daughter. Randle described the suspect as a bald white man in his 40s, wearing a black hoodie and gray basketball shorts, who was allegedly accompanied by a blonde woman driving a dark SUV.
After hearing Randle's claims, police issued an Amber Alert to find the child. However, by Wednesday morning, authorities canceled the alert after discovering that Randle's story was not true. Andrea Botterbusch from the New Castle County Police stated that detectives found inconsistencies in Randle's account.
Police then went to Randle’s home in Maryland and found her boyfriend, Britten. As the investigation continued, officers searched nearby Perryville Community Park and discovered a body in a vacant lot in North East, Maryland. Although it has not been confirmed, the remains are believed to be those of Nola. "At 1:45 today, Maryland State Police Homicide Unit located what appears to be human remains consistent with that of a child," said spokesperson Elena Russo.
Randle was initially charged with false reporting and was held at the Baylor Women's Correctional Institution after failing to post a $1 million bail. She has since been charged with murder and is now in custody awaiting extradition back to Maryland. Britten has also been arrested and faces charges including accessory to murder and failure to report a child's death. He is in custody in Maryland and is waiting to be transported to court.
