Both the Senate and now the House passed the ‘Big Beautiful Bill,’ sending it to President Trump's desk for his signature

The House voted 218 to 214 in favor of the bill. Two Republicans, Thomas Massie from Kentucky and Brian Fitzpatrick from Pennsylvania, joined all Democrats in voting against it. Earlier this week, the Senate had already passed the legislation, which is being referred to as the "big, beautiful bill."

President Trump is set to sign the bill into law during a ceremony at the White House on Friday, just in time for the July 4 holiday.

The vote followed a long overnight session where Republican leaders worked to overcome internal disagreements and push the bill forward. Many Republicans who were initially hesitant about the Senate's changes eventually voted in favor of the bill.

In an attempt to slow down the process, House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries spoke for 8 hours and 44 minutes, making it the longest speech in U.S. House history. He criticized Republicans for the significant cuts to Medicaid and food assistance programs, emphasizing the potential impact on struggling Americans.
