10-Year-Old Girl Plays Dead to Save Herself After Her Mom's Ex-Boyfriend Hired a Man to Kill Them Both

A Texas man named Xavier Davis, 32, pleaded guilty to capital murder for killing a Houston couple and their 6-year-old daughter.

Davis admitted to murdering 35-year-old Gregory Carhee, 29-year-old Donyavia Lagway, and their daughter Harmony on June 30, 2021. According to the Houston Police Department, he broke into the family's apartment and shot the parents in front of three of their children. He then shot Harmony in the head, while her 10-year-old sister was also injured but pretended to be dead until Davis left. After that, the surviving sister locked the door and called family members while comforting her baby brother, who was not but not killed.

Davis was arrested days later on three counts of capital murder and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon while he was already in custody for another case. Following an investigation, police arrested a second suspect named Alexus Williamson, alleging that he had ordered the attacks. Williamson had previously dated Lagway and is accused of arranging the robbery and hiring Davis to carry out the murders.

Williamson's trial is scheduled for later this year, and he has pleaded not guilty to all charges. At his bond hearing, officials stated that Davis had FaceTimed Williamson during the murders.

Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for Davis, whose case is now moving to the punishment phase.
